Netflix Finally Lands On The Boxee Box

Smooooooch! That’s Avner Ronen of Boxee Box wishing all the Boxee Box owners a happy Valentine’s Day with a big wet Netflix kiss. The streaming media service just hit box and will certainly makes some Boxee Box owner’s day with ability to browse the Netflix streaming catalog right from the box. Netflix was supposed to hit the Boxee Box by the end of 2010. That’s what the official website said even up until last week. Then it was supposed to hit in January. Clearly that didn’t happen. Boxee was getting its fair share of flack over the delay thanks to the constant cycle of missed deadlines. Now with Netflix on board, what are the Boxee forums and fan sites going to complain about? Well, there’s still the occasionally lag in the UI and the box likes to lock up once in a while. Subtitles randomly start with locally-stored movies and the browser could be a bit faster. So yeah, the lack of Netflix was the main bitching point before, but the system certainly still...

Sony Ericsson Vivaz 2 leaks out in detail

Sony Ericsson’s Symbian-powered Vivaz looks to be getting an update, with a leak outlining an Android-powered successor. Mobile Review have a very detailed overview of the phone — also known as the MT15i or Halon — including more pics than you can shake a megapixel at. The skinny of it all, though, is the juicy, juicy specs, which I’ve compiled for you below. Android 2.3 1 GHz ARM 7 processor 512 MB of RAM 8MP camera with Exmor sensor and 720p video recording 480×854 “Bravia-quality” display HDMI port 1500mAh battery Apparently, SE’s Timescape skin hasn’t changed a great deal, but does run a heap better on the newer hardware. One change, however, is the ability to sort the application grid based on date installed, or frequency of use, rather than just having it come up alphabetically, as on other Android builds. It should launch in April for somewhere around €320–350. There is no word just yet on a US release. Source :http://www.mobilecrunch.com

India Develops Android Lapatop at 1500 for School

Gadget Guru, the gadget show by NDTV had interviewed Kapil Sibal, the Human Resource and Development minister about their very much rumored tablet PC that they were developing for a very low price. And its now confirmed that the product is going to be released soon, as the prototype presented by them was perfectly working. And Kapil Sibal said that it’s going to cost just $35 i.e. INR 1500. Here are a few things about the tablet device - Its based on android platform, and the performance is excellent, with all the features similar to the android devices presently sold in the market. It has a virtual keyboard on the screen itself, which says it has a touchscreen with the resistive interface. The connectivity is through Wi-fi Camera – There is a camera on the back side of the device, which can help in capturing videos and taking pics. Fujifilm FinePix X100 Combines Versatile Digital Power With Insanely Good Looks

Wow, Fujifilm. Just… wow. This is an amazing piece of work. The FinePix X100 is… not really comparable to anything on the market. It’s got the sensor of a DSLR (12-megapixel APS-C) but is set up like an old-school rangefinder, with an actual optical viewfinder. Or rather, a hybrid viewfinder, since they can overlay information on it like an EVF… but it’s still a real image, not an electronic one. This thing looks nuts . The lens is a 23mm F/2, which they say they’ve had specially made for this body and sensor. The LCD on the back is a ridiculous 800×600 pixels in 2.8″, putting it on iPhone 4 levels as far as pixel density goes. It’ll shoot 5FPS, ISO goes from 200 to 6400 (expandable to 12,800), and it’ll do 720p video. But the body! Oh my god! It’s designed after the original cameras we all miss so much. It’s mostly made of metal, including the dials up top, which should give it a hell of a nice heft and feel. I sure hope it has full time manual focus too. SOURCE : www.crun...

Apple’s iPad Business Now Bigger Than MacBook Business. Next Up: Entire Mac Business

Apple had a lot of big numbers to share during their Q1 2011 earnings today. And while the biggest unsurprisingly belonged to the iPhone, the iPad numbers are also very, very impressive. How impressive? The iPad business is already a bigger business than Apple’s portable computer business. That includes MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and MacBook Airs. And it’s within spitting distance of surpassing Apple’s entire Mac business in terms of revenue. Last quarter, Apple sold 7.33 million iPads. Broken down, they made just over $4.6 billion off of the product for the quarter. That puts it ahead of the $3.69 billion the MacBook business made for Apple during the same time frame. The iPad actually nearly started outselling Macs right out of the gates in terms of actual units (which did happen last quarter). But the higher price points of Macs ensured that they maintained an edge in revenues. But the iPad was able to surge past the MacBooks in that category this past qu...

Google Nexus S review

Almost a full year ago, Google offered up its vision of what a mobile phone experience should be. We’re not talking about just the phone itself, funny enough, but also how consumers purchase devices, choose their carriers and sign up for service. Jump to today, and Google’s back at it again, except there’s one (well, not just one) very big difference — instead of being sold directly by Google online, the Nexus S is available at physical stores, letting consumers and potential customers see and feel the device before they buy it. The Samsung manufactured Google Nexus S packs a heck of a lot of features into a small figure, and it runs Google’s latest Android OS, Gingerbread. Does Google’s implementation of hardware and software make for the best Android phone available on the market today? Is it the perfect phone for you? Hit the break to find out what we think! ...

T-Mobile Shows Off The Features Of Honeycomb In This Series Of Videos

Courtesy of T-Mobile and its newly announced G-Slate tablet by LG, several videos showing off Google’s new tablet-only OS have surfaced. Honeycomb will power the next generation of Android tablets, and it appears to offer some huge benefits over previous versions of the OS, which were designed with smartphones in mind. We really like what we’ve seen from Honeycomb so far, and we can’t wait to see more on the show floor. In the meantime, hit the jump for a handful of great videos that really give us a taste of what’s in store from Android 3.0 Honeycomb. We saw a lot of these features go by in fast-forward when that Honeycomb video leaked the other day, and you could get a sense of Android 3.0 through the screenshots there. But if you really want to know what it’s like, you’d better take a gander at this series of videos T-Mobile has put out. They’ve been around for a while but we thought we’d just put them in one place for your convenience. I’ll let them speak for thems...

A Deep Look At The Notion Ink Adam Tablet And Where It’s Going

The Notion Ink Adam might be the best tablet you’ve never heard of — but there’s a good reason for that. This kit isn’t coming from a high-profile outlet with deep distribution channels. It’s coming from a start-up fueled by nothing but raw passion. For us at CrunchGear, the Adam isn’t the fascinating part of the story; it’s the wide-eyed company and its crazy fanboys. The tablet itself though has a rich, but short history. The Bangalore-based company took the Adam from rendering to production in just over one year and thanks to the company’s vocal CEO, Rohan Sharvan, constantly granted fans a look at the development process. It’s quite a story. Backstory The Adam is the brainchild of the Notion Ink design firm. According to the about page on the official website, “Notion Ink is young at heart, and proud to wear it on its sleeve. Youth gives us that extra edge in bringing a whole new realm of concepts to reality.” Notion Ink is new at the consumer electronics game. The Ad...

No more Android Updates On Xperia X10 Series

Sony Ericsson has confirmed through twitter ( http://twitter.com/SonyEricssonUK ) this morning that the Android Operating system for Xperia X10, X10 and X10 mini mini pro will not be updated further beyond the updates of Android 2.1 Eclair. The news is expected to be a major disappointment for the early adopters of Sony Ericsson’s Android line. Sony Ericsson has not entirely jettisoned software updates for these units. Future updates from Sony Ericsson will be for things like updating the multitouch screen, etc., but nothing for the operating system.

iPod Desktop Speaker makes for an affordable gift

F inding affordable gifts for someone who is more into technology than anything else can sometimes seem to be a trying task. Luckily though there are some retailers happy to sell off speakers to go with your precious iPod or iPhone. With this speaker it’ll play your music, while also giving a spot to rest your iPod and leave it on display. You could easily see and flip through music while it’s hooked up to the speaker. It’s not really something you carry everywhere with you. It would be nice to have sitting on a desk of some kind though. For students with cramped living conditions it would work out great. The device is meant for the iPhone or any of the iPods besides the Shuffle. It will hook up to any MP3 player though. In order to keep it running, it requires 4 AAA batteries. You can purchase the speaker in both red and black for $9.99 a piece through The Container Store .
